Indigenous Youth CAREER Pathways
Indigenous youth are an eager and untapped resource for any organization looking to bring on new interns, employees and apprentices.
CAREERS prepares Indigenous students for post-secondary education and the world of work through the Indigenous Youth CAREER Pathways program. Launched in partnership with the Government of Alberta, the program provides career awareness for Indigenous youth starting in middle school with an expanded choice of occupations for career exploration and internship experiences that include:
- Trades and Technologies
- Health, Recreation and Human Services
- Business, Administration, Finance and Information Technology
- Media, Design and Communications Arts
- Natural Resources
Does your organization have an Indigenous Initiative? CAREERS' Indigenous team works with Indigenous communities to raise awareness of career options in trades, industrial technologies and health services and improve access to our programs. CAREERS has Indigenous youth exploring careers all over the province with our internship opportunities.
We recognize the unique challenges these youth face, including lower employment rates for Indigenous. Our Indigenous Youth Initiative aims to bridge the gap between the untapped Indigenous talent pool and your organization's needs.
By 2016, over 400,000 Indigenous youth are expected to enter the labour market. That's a massive, mostly untapped resource for Alberta industry.
